The Yemeni Community Association (YCA) is a
small community-based organisation that seeks to represent the needs of the
Yemeni community in the Sandwell area of the West Midlands. It does
this by providing targeted services to support and complement those
available through the mainstream sector, and also by acting as an interface
between the community and various service providers. It has been
registered as an official charity since 1997. |

 |
| The profile of the Yemeni
community in Sandwell tends to be one of high unemployment, low skills base
and poor levels of health. These disadvantages are compounded by cultural
and language issues, which often make it difficult for the Yemeni community
to access mainstream services and organisations. |

The YCA Mission Statement is:
"To respond to the wishes and needs of the Yemeni community and other
families in the Sandwell area, by providing cultural orientation,
educational development and skills training for children and adults, through
the provision of accessible community services and activities run by the
YCA" |
